Carrier Forest Products Ltd. is planning to re-establish a sawmill complex near Big River, Saskatchewan, according to media reports. A sawmill and planer are expected to restart in the fall of 2012, coinciding with the startup of the Prince Albert pulp mill. Negotiations reportedly are under way between Carrier and Eacom Timber Corp., the sawmill's current owner, which purchased it from Domtar in 2009. Results of those talks will determine whether Carrier will restart the old sawmill or build a new one. - 8/5/2011
